4-Month Check Up

Yesterday Ivy had her 4-month (well, almost 4 1/2 month) check-up. I picked her up from the sitter and as my luck would have it, she was wearing a different outfit than what I had dressed her in that morning. You know what that means. Sorry but in a blog where the main subject happens to be an infant it is inevitable there will be references to poop. In this case, the poop happened to be in the form of diarrhea. Lovely. As evidenced by the state of her clothes that I later bravely retrieved from a plastic bag, it had been a doozie. The white (yes, white) onesie she had been wearing is no longer white. On the plus side, did you know fleece doesn't absorb bodily fluids? No, it mostly just piles on top of the fabric and in turn, coated the entire inside of her pant leg. Ugh...nasty. So anyways, after Ivy shat herself, it was time to go to the doctor. Thanks Ivy. Way to make mommy look good!

Despite the aforementioned incident, her appointment went very well. She weighed in at 14 pounds, 6 ounces and measured 25 inches long. That puts her in the 75th percentile for both height and weight! We discussed getting her started on solids, although she's been enjoying rice cereal on a regular basis for the past week or so, but now it's time to introduce some yummy fruits and vegetables (future blog post to follow)! She got two shots yesterday which went MUCH better than at her 2-month appointment where she screamed bloody murder for about 20 minutes (that felt like an hour). This time, she still screamed but as soon as mommy was able to pick her up, she calmed down. What a tough little chick!!

I expected her to be tired last night since that’s common after vaccinations but besides a quick cat nap on the way home, she was her usual smiley, spunky little self with no further diarrhea recurrences! Oh, and she had a bath.
